electrolux dishwasher not heating water

My Electrolux Dishwasher Has Stopped Heating Water. What's Going On?

If your Electrolux dishwasher no longer heats water properly, you can be sure that your dishes will not come out as clean as they should. Greasy dishes, in particular, will need to be washed again. This fault can happen with any dishwasher, regardless of the make or model and there are several possible causes.

Reset Your Dishwasher

As per the manufacturer, the first thing to do is try resetting your Electrolux dishwasher. To do so, you will need to unplug the dishwasher, wait 1 minute and plug it in again. If you cannot access the plug easily, an alternative would be to turn off the relevant fuse and wait 1 minute before flipping it up again. If you have moved the appliance to unplug it, you need to reposition it again and check the hoses while you're at it. Do not allow them to bend or kink since this can obstruct water flow. The tap should be fully open. Now turn the dishwasher on and select the suitable cycle before starting it. An intensive cycle is a good option since you can check if the dishwasher is warm inside once the cycle comes to an end. If resetting the appliance does not solve the problem, there could be a faulty part to blame.

Heating Element

If the heating element becomes covered in lime deposits from hard water, it can cause the element to burn out. This means that the water will no longer be heated even though your appliance will otherwise appear to work normally. Once the element is replaced, this should solve the problem. You may want to consider a water softener to protect your dishwasher as well as other appliances that rely on water.

Control Module

The control module is an essential part of many different appliances today. In your dishwasher, it plays a vital role in ensuring that all wash cycles are performed and completed as they should be. When any part of the module is damaged, it often needs to be replaced in order to resolve the fault. This part should always be replaced by a professional since it needs to be connected and fitted correctly.

Clogged Filter

If the filter on your dishwasher becomes clogged, this can cause the circulation of water to slow down and your heater will not turn on. Thankfully this is a quick fix and all you need to do is clean out the filter. In fact, cleaning the filter should be a part of your regular maintenance routine. It is best to clean the filters after each wash cycle. If you allow the food and dirt to dry, it can be more difficult to clean.

Temperature Sensor

If the temperature sensor is faulty, it will not be able to relay the necessary information to the heating element. The sensor needs to tell the element what temperature the water is so that the element can turn on and heat the water as per the wash cycle settings. Replacing the sensor should solve this problem provided no other parts are faulty too.

It is also worth mentioning that dishwashers do not only have a hot cycle. They have a cool wash cycle too. So, before you worry about replacing parts and dishwasher repairs, take a moment to make sure that you have not somehow mistaken the cool cycle for the warm wash.
